Black Star, Bright Dawn

In  the book Black Star, Bright Dawn, Bright Dawn runs the Iditarod, a dogsled race in Alaska.  Bright Dawn ran the Iditarod for her dad.  He was going to race, but he could not because the sled crashed, and he got hurt.  Bright Dawn took a plane to Anchorage, and she got ready for the race. When the race started, all the dogs ran fast.  Bright Dawn ran for a couple of days and she saw a moose.  Moose are very dangerous when you're running the Iditarod.  Black Star and all the other dogs killed the moose by biting and jumping on him.  Sky, one of Bright Dawn's dogs, was flown back to Anchorage because she was kicked by the moose and got  three broken ribs.  Bright Dawn kept going and saw three other moose. After she got past all the moose, she stayed on the trail. About a couple of days later, she won $2,000 for being the first musher to reach the Iditarod checkpoint.  After that Bright Dawn followed the trail to Ikuma and saw her mom and dad.  When she got back on the trail, she got lost in a whiteout and got stranded on a floating piece of ice.  Her dad came and rescued her so she could continue the race.  Bright Dawn finished the Iditarod in last place, but she won $2,500 for helping people the most.
