Black Star, Bright Dawn

Bright Dawn was lost in a huge whiteout and couldn't see anything.  She couldn't even see her dog sled.  Bright Dawn didn't have any supplies or food, and she was stranded on the ice where her father almost drowned.  It was hard for Bright Dawn to breathe because she had threads of cotton pressing against her face.  She sat down on the ice and put her ear against it to see if she could hear anything, but she couldn't.  After an hour or so, she heard a loud noise above her and it got louder and louder.  She thought it was the mail plane that goes from Anchorage to Nome.  Her sled blocked the trail so nobody could get by it or they would crash right into her sled with the dogs.  A little past noon another airplane came by and dropped a crate of food, and on the crate there was a little note that said, "Help is on the way and will get you this afternoon."  Bright Dawn was still stuck in the whiteout with her dogs, and she couldn't really hear them.  She was waiting for help when she heard a loud noise that was getting closer and louder and it appeared right in front of her.  It was her dad!  After three days she was finally rescued by her dad, and she rode in the boat with him to the checkpoint at Womengo.  Bright Dawn was out of the whiteout and back in the race!
