We now have quizzes for:
the five Spiderwick Chronicles books, several Captain Underpants books by Dav Pilkey, additional American Girl books including the Kit series by Valerie Tripp, and the 2008 Caldecott Medal winner, The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick

World Book Online

The VUES community can access easy to read articles from the World Book Encyclopedia.  This multimedia reference source includes:  articles, photographs, maps, illustrations, tables, animation, video clips and links to external websites specially selected by World Book editors.  For username and password please contact Amy Foley, or email afoley@anwsu.org

Students, staff, parents, and other school community members have access to the library media center throughout the week during regular school hours.  All students have weekly library class.   Library class instruction focuses on: research skills (finding, evaluating and using information), the use information technology, literacy, literature appreciation, and reading promotion.  

 

The mission of the library media center is to:

  • Support the school’s curriculum with high quality library materials for students and staff
  • Promote reading and literature appreciation
  • Ensure that students and staff members become effective users of information by teaching research and literacy skills

Accelerated Reader (AR) Quiz List for VUES – This PDF document lists all the AR books (in alphabetical order by author) for VUES.  Some 3rd and 4th grade students are required to read and take quizzes on AR books.  5th and 6th graders also read and take quizzes on some of these books.  New titles were added on March 10, 2008.
