Thank you Vergennes Union Middle School VKAT students for hosting our March 8,
2005, Prevention Council meeting. Monica
McEnerny, Deb White and VKAT students planned and ran the entire 2 hour meeting
with both enthusiasm and wonderful leadership Skills! Our lunch crew had a few glitches with their
oven! Laura Husk spent the evening
before the meeting preparing the meal. Capsule students did an awesome job
creating a wonderful restaurant environment.
School Updates: Dylan

Tobacco
Bingo – VKAT led
this interactive game that helps students to get to know each other. Both
adults and students got into the act.
4 Square
Tobacco Trivia –
Kristine and Ashley tested our Tobacco IQ! Tobacco questions were asked. Each person would go to the site A,B,C,D that matched their response. It was amazing to observe, even after much
training around tobacco myths and facts, several adults got answers wrong. VKAT
did a great job with the questions and running the activity. All students and
adults were actively engaged.
VKAT invited
Kathy to come and speak about leadership opportunities through the GMPP. Kathy answered questions and shared important
dates. Building-based prevention
coordinators are interested in taking some students to the upcoming Teen
Leadership Institute on March 31.
Each table
took time to talk about our May 10 meeting. This will be the last meeting for
this school year. Alyson will hold a
meeting with supervisors and look at suggestions. All elementary schools will work together to
plan and run the May meeting.
Alyson
asked the students to think about ideas for a Tee Shirt. She would like to have T’s made as a token of
appreciation! Students attended all
meetings and fully participated. It
feels like this new format is working.
