School Board Member Authority - Individual board members exercise authority only as they vote at legal board meetings or in matters delegated to them by a board vote.  Board members deal directly with the superintendent and do not give direction to other employees.  Each member supports board decision, but may voice a minority viewpoint indicating it is a personal, not board opinion.

Evaluation of the Superintendent - The board establishes criteria for evaluation and offers at least three opportunities for confidential conferences each year to discuss performance.  By February 1 the board chairs will have completed a formal evaluation session with the superintendent, which includes a written document signed by board members.  By February 1 the Superintendent provides a report on achievement of his goals.
