The board encourages the attendance of members of the public at its meetings

Since board meetings are to carry out the official business of the school district in a timely manner, it is necessary that they be conducted in an orderly fashion. To this end, members of the public will be asked to conform to procedures established by the board for public participation.

The board will set aside time at each meeting for public comment on items not on the agenda. The chair may rule out of order any presentation that breaches the privacy rights of students, parents, or school employees or which does not comply with board policy on complaints.

The chair will recognize members of the public wishing to comment on agenda items once the item has been discussed by the board and prior to taking action on the item. Spontaneous discussion by the public will not be permitted.

Public requests to have items placed on the agenda shall be submitted to either the chair or the superintendent at least one week prior to the board meeting.
