Ms. Douglas's Fifth and Sixth Grade

Ms. Douglas's class is made up of 8 fifth graders and 9 sixth graders this year. It's pretty cool. This year is going to be pretty different with two grades in our class, 5th and 6th. Ms. Douglas is the coolest teacher in the world.  Ms. Douglas is also very interested in Vermont history. She does a lot cool stuff with us like taking us out for an extra recess at the end of the day. She is very kind to us. She explains stuff to us when needed. She sometimes plays  games with us so we can stretch our bodies. Ms. Douglas can not be beaten as the coolest teacher of the year.
This year we have the opportunity to open our very own school store. It will be so awsome! At Ms. Douglas's school store we sell school utencils and fun things like small toys such as Playdough, wooden creatures, and the best part of the store is the prize of the month! Simply explained,  when you buy something we put your name in once, and at the end of the month we draw a name from a hat for a bonus prize. Our motto is unique, "Ferrisburgh Country Store, where you'll find more of what your shopping for." We are really looking forward to open this store.
In the end of September we had 3 days of   Paddling Ecology. On the 3 days we had paddling on the Lake, wetlands discovery, and an ocean day here at school. The first day,  we got into canoes and paddled down Little Otter Creek and we went into Dead Creek. It was a lot of fun! On the second day we had the wetlands on the Hatch's property. We had fun. We got to go in mud,  you sank if you stood in oneWhale Watch place! On the third day we had ocean day here at the school. We did a whole bunch of activities on the ocean, lakes, and rivers.  It was 3 days of jam packed fun! It was so awesome!
Sometimes we do things as a team,  the whale watch was a blast! The first Monday in October, we went on a whale watch with the whole team (5th and 6th grades). We had to get up around 4:00 am in the morning and be at the school at 5:15 am. We left around 5:30 am. We got to Rye, New Hampshire at 9:30 am, 4 hours later. The captain talked with us about safety rules for a minute and we loaded the boat. WOW! It was awesome! We saw about 100 dolphins! It was a huge excitement. Then we saw a Finback whale and another. after about going 30 miles out we saw a Humpback whale! Then we started coming back to shore and loaded onto the bus. We stopped to eat and returned home riding the bus for 4 hours and got to the school around 11:00 pm.
We know we are going to have an exceptional year because we have experienced all these great things so far and hope to do them again someday. We are also looking forward to having a lot of other experiences as a class.  Mainly  we have a great time because we work together and try to make the most of what we are planning to do and had already done.
