Serving the Town of Ferrisburgh

Ferrisburgh Central School continues to have a strong, positive reputation for offering a quality education for its students.  FCS is a school known for its academic success. FCS has schoolwide literacy teachers who provide leadership and support for classroom teachers and students in all areas of curriculum, instruction, and assessment.  In addition, a mathematics interventionist provides support at all grade levels as needed to any student who may need increased math instruction. FCS continues to make Adequate Yearly Progress as defined by the national No Child Left Behind Act and continues to meet both state and national requirements of student academic growth as evidenced by student performance on the New England Common Assessment Program.

We have also received state and national recognition for our food service program and our connections to the local growers, as well as our own garden, greenhouse and composting programs. Students are able to watch food from seed, to harvesting, to their plate with great pride in their role of this wonderful program.

ASSESSMENT RESULTS

---

FCS staff continues to address concerns regarding the performance of students who fall in the Free and Reduced Lunch sub-category of students. Over the last three years there has been a significant increase in the number of families qualifying for assistance.  FCS acknowledges the necessity of doing more to assist these students in achieving and maintaining academic grade level expectations.

As a school staff our Action Plan focuses on the areas of Literacy, Math, Technology and Instructional Practices as we begin the transition to the new Common Core State Standards, which will be tested beginning in the spring of 2014.
